I hope is a song written and recorded by American country music singer Gabby Barrett. She released the single independently after finishing in third place on season 16 of American Idol. Breakthrough country singer Gabby Barrett was already a hit with the original "I Hope," but then Charlie Puth slid into his DM and asked to add his vocals to the song and update the beat. The result was an undeniably huge success.

Gabby Barrett co-wrote I hope with Zach Kale and Jon Nite, and the song was produced by Ross Copperman and Zachary Kale. In this song, Barret tells of his heartbreak with many of his lovers and behind his broken heart he wishes the best for his ex. However, Barret decided to change the line of the lyrics to the classic vengeful nature of the story of a broken lover.

“The fact is that sometimes we expect the worst when it comes to our exes. Unfortunately, we never voiced this out. This song now says things you or I may not have said before" Let's take a look at the lyrics of the song I hope by Gabby Barrett ft Charlie Puth

Gabby Barret ft Charlie Puth - I hope

I hope you both feel the sparks by the end of the drive

I hope you know he's the one by the end of the night

I hope you never felt more free

Tell your friends that you're so happy

I hope he comes along and wrecks every one of your plans

I hope he spends his last dime to put a rock on her hand

I hope he's wilder than your wildest dreams

That's everything you're ever gonna need

And then I hope he cheats

Like you did on me

And then I hope he cheats

Like you did on me
