Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie is a Japanese anime released in 2021 based on Naoko Takeuchi's Dream arc of the Sailor Moon manga which is intended as a continuation of the “fourth season” for the Sailor Moon Crystal anime series. The film is directed by Chiaki Kon, written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, head of supervision by Naoko Takeuchi and produced by Toei Animation and Studio Deen.

This film was supposed to be released on September 11, 2020 but was delayed until January 8, 2021 yesterday due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its second part was on February 11, 2021. Presented as an adaptation of the Dead Moon arc series from the original manga version, Naoko Takeuchi.

The second part of the arc will be adapted into a film and scheduled for release on a different date. The character designs are stated to be slightly different from the latest iteration as well, as Kazuko Tadano who worked on the character designs for the early anime series rejoined the team for both of the Sailor Moon Eternal films.

This means that while the production might have a more contemporary feel, the characters will probably still give us a nostalgic feel that reworked the original anime.

In Sailor Moon Eternal, fans will also see the return of the character designer for the 1990s anime series, Kazuko Tadano. All of the voice actors from the original anime will return, including Kotono Mitsuishi as the main character Usagi Tsukino.

And there are new cast members such as, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Pegasus / Helios, Shouta Aoi as Fish Eye, Satoshi Hino as Tiger Eye, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Hawk's Eye, Yuko Hara as JunJun, Reina Ueda as CereCere, Sumire Morohoshi as PallaPalla, Rie Takahashi as VesVes, Naomi Watanabe as Zirconia, Nanao as Queen Nehellenia. There will be appearances from new actors as well such as Nanao as Nehellenia.
